Eat Bulaga! The longest-running noontime variety show on air in the history of local television has its first overseas version: Eat Bulaga Indonesia premiered on Indonesia's SCTV network on July 16, 2012, making it the first Philippine show, variety show in particular, to be franchised by another country.
The Indonesian version airs for one-and-a-half-hours at 4 pm because they have to consider the viewers’ prayer time.
Eat Bulaga Indonesia also retains all the segments Filipinos see everyday at noontime, like “Pinoy Henyo”, “One For All, All For One,” “Bulagaan” and “Karaoke Stud.”
The Indonesian TV network could have easily copied Eat Bulaga's format and renamed it into something else just like what other TV networks do here in the Philippines but it instead chose to buy the Bulaga name and license. With this franchise, makes us Filipinos proud of this achievement.

In their 33 years in the Philippines, they have not been retaining its No. 1 spot in terms of noon time rating because of their different portions or segments; but for the spontaneous style of hosting and the "Masa appeal" of Tito, Vic and Joey (TVJ) as well as the other hosts makes the show reachable: Providing fun (saya) and hope (pag-asa) to all Filipinos mula Appari hangang Jolo.
I am just wondering why other networks or programs in Philippines do franchise lot of shows from other countries though Filipinos are known for being creative. This should be a challenge to other networks to create original and world class shows that would be franchised by other countries.
