Places: Remembering Dubai ( Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall, Dubai Fountain)

Burj Khalifa at night

While working in Dubai, I make sure that I visit its mega structures and one of the newest was Burj Khalifa. Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest structure on the planet. Soaring 828 meters (2,717 ft), with more than 160 stories, the building has a stepped design that narrows as it climbs syringe-like to the sky. It is part of the massive Downtown Dubai complex of offices, hotels, shopping malls, entertainment precincts and apartment buildings. Ride the elevator to the 124th-floor Observation Deck for astounding views over Dubai and the Arabian Gulf, or take a wander through the gardens and fountains of Burj Khalifa Park.

Shop till you drop in Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall. Along with a huge variety of shops – including Galeries Lafayette, Bloomingdale's, and Marks & Spencer – the mall includes an aquarium, ice rink, Sega theme park and cinemas.

Dubai Mall is part of the Burj Khalifa complex, world’s tallest building and opposite Souk Al Bahar. This mall is even better than the Mall of the Emirates, which only has ski slope. Dubai Mall has an aquarium, a skating rink, a giant indoor fountain waterfall, and the Burj Khalifa. Move around, and came to Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, which is one of the main attractions of the Mall.

Tiickets for the aquarium/tunnel : Adult -25 dirhams, Child-20 dirhams. The aquarium/ tunnel had ample sharks and fishes for you to enjoy. The underwater zoo ticket price is 50 Dirham. As you enter the aquarium, they click your picture with photo of fish’s and sharks at your backside. And after you moved out of the tunnel, they try to sell the picture at 200 dirhams (It's a bit expensive so we did not bother to take it).

After enjoying Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall. It's time to see the most breathtaking attraction of the Mall: the Dubai Fountain. It starts at 7 everynight and goes every 30 minutes. Thousands of tourist and locals come to see this most spectacular fountain. As the fountain dances to the music it sprays water over 150 metres in the air. You will experience a symphony of sound, light and water as you watch the Dubai Fountain dance to stirring musical pieces from powerful Italian classics and renowned Arabic compositions to Bollywood musics and festive African rhythms. As over 6000 light and colour projectors are used, the fountain makes thousand unique water expressions; and creates an unforgettable extravaganza for the senses.

Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall original name was Burj Dubai until the global financial crisis in 2008, Dubai was in a liquidity crisis. Dubai had to seek assistance from Abu Dhabi. One consequence was the renaming of the world tallest building to Burj Khalifa. This removed the Dubai name from the most important landmark in Dubai, UAE. However, Dubai found a way to retain the name. It renamed the Metro Station that served this locality to Burj Khalifa Dubai Mall to retain the name of Dubai in this magnificent landmark.

My experience in this wonderful structures was memorable and hoping to visit it again soon...
